Updated Heart Sparklers Are Here!

New Heart Sparklers!
We are excited to announce that we recently brought to the shop an updated version of our popular heart sparklers. They now have longer handles so they’re easier to hold. Last summer, our heart sparklers were featured in Martha Stewart Weddings! Hold on, let me pinch myself! Martha Stewart is full of wedding inspiration including this picture she featured online.

I absolutely love the idea that Martha came up with – “Let Sparks Fly”. She even includes the “let sparks fly” and the cute sparks matchbox wraps as two free printables on her site. You should note, however, that while decorative matches are fun wedding favors, they aren’t the best to use for lighting sparklers. We recommend using a long grill-style lighter to get things started and then light the other sparklers off each other.

Also, my husband & I recently celebrated ten years of marriage! I’m not sure that heart sparklers were around when we got married but we did use sparklers on our way out. I would love to have some heart sparklers all around me!

Check Out Our Newly Redesigned Website!

One of our big goals for 2015 has finally become a reality with this week’s launch of our brand new website! We’re excited to share it with you after months of hard work, and want to highlight a few of the great new features it provides.

First, we now offer a fantastic shopping experience on any device. More than half of you are visiting us from a phone or tablet, so we focused heavily on designing a website that is optimized for mobile. We put key navigation and menu controls at the bottom of the screen for easy one-handed browsing, added draggable sliders to showcase product images, and implemented performance enhancements to make it all load quickly.

You can now create an account to save your information for quick and easy future orders. Plus, your account will hold all of your order history so it’s easy to keep track of everything.

We have a new search feature that will allow you to quickly find what you’re looking for across any of our product categories all in one place. This is becoming increasingly important as we continue to grow our product line, and it will also serve as a valuable tool to help us discover products you’re searching for that we might not already offer.

4 Creative Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day

My husband and I will be celebrating our 10th Valentine’s Day together this year. We have never been ones to go out for a fancy dinner or buy expensive flowers and chocolates. We much prefer to stay home and cook a special dinner together. Since we’ve had children, we really try and make the day special for them. I decorate the house in lots of hearts and red and pink decorations in the weeks leading up to the 14th. The past couple of years, we’ve done a big breakfast spread for them, too. I’ve decorated the dining room table with lots of fun heart confetti, fresh daisies, and cute paper products. I also like to line the table with kraft paper and have everyone write down what they love about each other.

As I get things ready this year, I thought I’d share four creative (and easy) ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

1. A “Hearty” Breakfast in Bed

Seriously, how cute is this breakfast? I just love how everything is heart shaped! I used the Recipe Girl’s delicious cinnamon roll pancakes recipe and poured them as heart shapes using a pastry bag. Then I used a sharp knife to cut the strawberries into hearts. My favorite idea, hands-down, is the heart shaped bacon! Simply shape the strips into hearts and bake at 400 degrees for 20ish minutes. Your hubby and kids will love these!

2. A DIY Heart-Shaped Wreath

It is a largely known fact with my friends and family that I love DIY projects and my favorite thing to make is wreaths! Truly, I’m a little wreath-obsessed.

This adorable heart-shaped wreath is made with coffee filters and paint. This is a perfect kid-friendly project for an afternoon at home. Head over to Soccer Mom Style for a step-by-step tutorial.

3. Couples Photo Shoot with Heart Sparklers

This adorable couple is TJ and Kim and they’re recently engaged! They used our Heart Sparklers to make their Valentine’s photos pretty special. The great thing about these heart sparklers is that once you light them, they burn down both sides of the heart which creates double the sparkles. These would also be perfect to use at a wedding. My husband and I had our guests light sparklers as we left the reception, and I wish these heart sparklers had been around for us to use 10 years ago!

4. Sky Lantern Valentines

This may be my favorite idea yet! On Valentine’s Eve, I cut out paper hearts and write things I love about my husband and kids, and I attach the hearts to their door or on the bathroom mirror so that when they wake up, they can see all the things that I love about them. This idea is even better! How sweet would it be to take some of our sky lanterns and spend some time writing love notes to each other or writing romantic commitments to your significant other. Then take the lanterns outside and send them up into the sky with each other. How romantic and sweet! My daughter’s heart would skip a beat seeing the lanterns in the sky and imagining herself as Rapunzel (a la Tangled).

What’s great is these lanterns are 100% biodegradable and come fully assembled, so they’re really easy to use.

Halloween Sky Lanterns

Oh I just love decorating for Halloween. It’s a secret favorite holiday of mine. I have two little ones at home (both under the age of 5) so we keep our Halloween decorations very kid friendly. For example, the skeleton we have up in the house has a smile and a bow tie on. And that giant spider web we have on our living room wall is adorned with a big, shiny, pink spider.

And my kid-friendly Halloween style is just one reason why I just adore these Halloween Sky Lanterns. I think they’re just the cutest. I love that I can do these with my kids and they’ll be squealing as they watch these giant pumpkin heads float into the sky. They would also be perfect to use at a Halloween party. Just picture a group of your friends lighting these together and sending them off into the sky. You would look up and see these orange glowing lanterns lighting up the night sky. You’d win Neighbor of the Year for sure!

Like the rest of our Sky Lantern products, these have a small fuel source in the middle that, once lit, will lift the lantern slowly into the sky with an orange glow. These Halloween lanterns are made with fire-retardant, 100% biodegradable material.

Each month, I will share some of the more frequently asked questions we get here at Superior Celebrations.

What is the difference between wire sparklers and bamboo sparklers?

Wire sparklers are made with a steel wire that is used as the core and handle of the sparkler. Bamboo sparklers are made with a bamboo stick as the core and handle. The composition used for both sparklers is usually the same and generally burns with a very low amount of smoke. However, bamboo sparklers will produce far more smoke because the bamboo wood itself burns with the sparkler. The steel in wire sparklers does not burn, and therefore does not produce any additional smoke. Bamboo sparklers also tend to be very messy, and require a fair amount of clean up after use. The charred remains of the bamboo shaft will fall off as the sparkler burns down, which can leave black marks or burns on pavement and other surfaces.

All of the sparklers available on our website are made with steel wire.

Tellus Science Museum Celebrates Their One Millionth Visitor with Confetti Cannons

We just received a pretty awesome product review for our Confetti Cannons from Shelly Redd at the Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville, Georgia. On March 27, the museum celebrated their ONE MILLIONTH visitor by showering a lucky group of 3rd graders with confetti.

“We suspected the single millionth visitor might be hidden in one of our school programs. We couldn’t bear the thought of disappointing the rest of the class, so we formulated a back-up plan to let them all be the millionth visitor,” said Tellus Executive Director Jose Santamaria.

Shelly tells us that the kids “squealed with delight” when the staff launched the confetti.

“The confetti was so fun! We can’t wait to come back,” said 3rd grader, Gabriel Howard.

As a final surprise, the students enjoyed an ice cream party in the Carter Davis Pavilion at Tellus before they headed back to school.

Birthday Party Fun – Cake Sparklers in Action

My son celebrated his 5th birthday recently (cue the tears). We threw him a Ninja Turtle birthday party. He decided to invite a group of five guy friends and one girl friend from his PreK class. I couldn’t wait to bring the cupcakes out because I had this awesome cake sparkler to use as the candle and I knew this group of five year olds would flip over it!

Isn’t their jumping contagious and adorable!?! They loved it, as you can tell. This was my first time using the cake sparkler candle and I couldn’t believe how nice and long the flame lasted.

Monthly Spotlight – Cake Sparklers

I am happy to be here sharing our first featured product of the month – Bottle & Cake Sparklers. These are oh.so.fun. I can’t wait to share a video I took at my son’s 5th birthday party. Let’s just say there was lots of jumping up and down. But I’ll save that for another day. Let’s get down to the nitty, gritty details. These premium sparklers are perfect for cake and dessert presentations, as well as Champagne bottle service! Our bottle sparklers measure approximately 6” long x .5″ in diameter, and they burn for about 45 seconds with a 6”-9”, near-smokeless, sparkling, gold flame. These sparklers feature a spike tip on the bottom of the sparkler for ease of use in cakes and other dessert items. They come 4 per pack for a super low price, and we also sell them in bulk packs of 960 for restaurant and night club customers that buy in larger quantities.

Welcome to the Superior Celebrations Blog!

Welcome to the Superior Celebrations Blog! We have had a blog for a while now over at our parent website, superiorfireworks.com. When we redesigned our Superior Celebrations website last year, we decided to add the blog feature to this site as well. Originally, we were using the one blog across both of our websites. However, a few months ago we decided to have a more definitive split between our brands. As such, Superior Celebrations now has it’s own social media outlets and blog. At the same time that we are making this change, we are also bringing in a new social media coordinator! Her name is Eva, and she will be writing 90% of the articles here on our Celebrations blog, as well as connecting with our awesome customers via social media. Most of the articles here will focus on fun and creative ways to use our products. We want to hear our customers stories, and of course, see the pictures and video of how you have been using our products! Have something fun or unique to share? Let us know!
